Strengthening South Asian Communities in the United States

South Asian Speakers' Bureau

The South Asian Speakers’ Bureau is a program through which trained volunteers present accurate information about the South Asian community to audiences as varied as government agencies, service providers, civic associations, schools and places of worship.

Speakers' Bureau participants dispel myths about South Asians, provide demographic information about the community, and introduce prevalent issues such as bias/discrimination, access to services, domestic violence and more.  Participants of the South Asian Speakers’ Bureau program are trained specifically on public speaking, issues affecting the community, and how to use presentation tools to effectively engage a variety of audiences.

The South Asian Speakers' Bureau was piloted in Washington DC, and a New Jersey Speakers' Bureau is also being created. If you are interested in finding out more information about either Speakers' Bureaus or would like to start one on your area please contact us at saalt@saalt.org.
