Strengthening South Asian Communities in the United States

Share Your Story

Right now, our country is focused on how immigrants should be treated in America. As South Asians, we are all either immigrants or children of immigrants. Tell us why the treatment of immigrants in America matters to you. Provide a personal or family story/reflection about how your own or another’s experiences are tied to a history of migration and experiences within the U.S.  We encourage you to highlight your own or your family’s immigration experiences as well.

Please share your story with us!

Email us at info@saalt.org with your immigration story.

Examples include:

  • Experiences of problems with the immigration system and/or immigration lawyers.
  • Experiences of individuals who overstayed their visas, but remain in the country
  • Stories of separated families ex: a child is in the U.S. and a parent is in another country
  • Stories of families with mixed immigration status: parents are undocumented and children are documented
  • Stories of exploitation of immigrants in the workplace
  • Stories that highlight the strength of immigrants through the power and solidarity of organizing and advocacy
