About SAALT’s Work in Michigan

SAALT’s work in Michigan began with a Community Roundtable discussion held on January 24, 2008. About 40 South Asians attended the event in Farmington Hills, MI. Attendees discussed who makes up the Michigan South Asian community, what the issues within the community are, and how the community can access South Asian and non-South Asian resources. SAALT also held several meetings with representatives of the Bangladeshi, Muslim, and Arab communities. One of the outcomes from the roundtable included the need for Michigan South Asian organizations to work more closely together.
